Editing

I work professionally as an eBook editor, and I run into various issues and interesting facts in the course of my work that I think are good to pass along. A lot of this information deals with the creation of XHTML files and with the development of web pages with Hebrew text, since I end up coming across those issues pretty often. I may also add some information here about text conversion, automation, and other editing topics as I have time.

  • Unicode — An explanation of Unicode Character encoding and its relationship to the old ASCII encoding
  • Normalization for Biblical Hebrew — A discussion of the normalization routines for coding Biblical Hebrew in Unicode
  • ASCII Entities — This is a table of the 255 characters in the ASCII character set, which also take up the first 255 slots in the Unicode character set. They can be useful to lots of people.

Joshua Tallent delivered impeccable, accurate, beautifully designed Kindle and Mobipocket formatting for our two eBooks, the Messiah Interviews and Divinely Inspired. He did this with ease, amazing patience, and in quick turnaround time, all very pleasantly and with kindness and class. He was further very helpful in the Mobipocket submission for each of our titles, which is relatively difficult compared to Kindle submission. He took whatever time was necessary to guide me on the telephone step by step through the submission process. I am extremely fortunate that our paths have crossed and I recommend him without reservation. Please feel free to email me at jerrypollock@bellsouth.net if you require further testimony of Joshua’s excellence as an eBook formatter and as a person.
